At Kar Medical Care, we are proud to announce the launch of our weight loss services, led by Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, a Board-Certified Obesity Medicine specialist. Recognizing obesity as a disease, our program focuses on evidence-based medical knowledge to facilitate safe and healthy weight loss, ultimately enhancing our patients’ quality of life.
As your primary care provider, we are committed to deliver top-quality healthcare services with a focus on maintaining patient health while minimizing medication usage. We are dedicated to addressing the root causes of various medical conditions linked to obesity, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, arthritis, hypertension, and fatty liver disease. More than 80 percent of cases of type 2 diabetes can be attributed to obesity. Additionally, obesity increases the risk of premature death and various cancers, such as breast and colon cancer. In fact, with over 230 identified comorbidities and complications associated with obesity, weight loss stands as a key strategy in managing these conditions.
At Kar Medical Care, our commitment extends to evaluating the underlying factors contributing to weight gain and implementing sustainable solutions for long-term weight management.

Visit 1: Upon joining the KMC weight loss program, you’ll undergo a detailed medical and weight history assessment to understand the reasons behind your weight gain, difficulties in losing weight, and food cravings. A comprehensive physical exam and relevant lab tests, including metabolic panel, thyroid function tests, diabetes screening, cholesterol screening, and hormone testing for women, may be conducted to evaluate the root cause and complications of obesity.
Visit 2: Typically scheduled 1-2 weeks after the first visit, this session involves advanced testing to assess full-body composition, including body fat, muscle weight, visceral fat, and resting metabolism using bioelectrical impedance methods. Our provider will review your lab results and full-body composition findings, analyze your diet, and craft a customized KMC weight loss plan tailored to your specific needs, encompassing diet and exercise recommendations. To ensure the effectiveness of the weight loss plan and support long-term goals, initial visits are spaced 1-2 weeks apart, with subsequent visits scheduled monthly based on patient accountability, compliance, and objectives. Our program aligns with recommendations from obesity guidelines, advocating for six months of participation in high-intensity programs offering 14 or more counseling sessions for weight loss.
Following the second visit, each subsequent appointment will involve a comprehensive assessment of your diet, exercise routine, lifestyle changes, and the potential need for medication. When medically warranted, we can prescribe FDA-approved weight loss medications, after conducting a thorough review of your medical history to determine the most suitable option. Electrocardiogram (EKG) evaluations may be performed in-office before initiating medication therapy to assess cardiac health.
